THIS PAGE IS FORMALLY ARCHIVED, AFTER STANDING AS A LABOUR PARTY CANDIDATE IN THE 2021 LOCAL ELECTIONS IN THE CITY OF WOLVERAMPTON ON MAY 6TH 2021, IN THE WARD OF TETTENHALL WIGHTWICK.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO GAVE THERE SUPPORT; SPECIFICALLY THE 789 RESIDENTS WHO VOTED FOR MYSELF, WHICH WAS HIGHER THAN LABOUR'S VOTE IN 2019!
IT TRULY FEELS HONOURING AND I HOPE TO CARRY ON SUCH A JOURNEY, AS A CANDIDATE SOMEWHERE IN THE CITY FOR 2022!
MY VISION FOR WIGHTWICK
CANDIDATE STATEMENT
I am utterly thrilled, to be standing one of two candidates for The Labour Party (and also supported by The Co-operative Party): for City of Wolverhampton Council Ward of Tettenhall Wightwick, in Thursday May 6th 2021's ward Election!
Even if the pandemic has changed the landscape, our City’s spirit of togetherness has shined brightly – through the compassion of the Council, our heroic key workers and volunteers; all have whom played such an incredible part.
The beauty of Wightwick - whether through the splendre of Smestow Valley, the Transport Heritage Centre and through its incredible charity's including Compton Hospice, the ward's three schools and huge number of incredible businesses; particularly it's Independent Cafe's and Pub's, whether in Compton, Finchfield and its heart of Upper Green: gives the area much possibility.
The Conservatives however, have failed Wolverhampton's most well off patch for too long - knowing many folk still struggle to get by day by day and the economic impact of Coronavirus, is costing money and jobs. And knowing of that failure, along with Tory cuts which have ripped the city apart; particularly through national cuts to Youth and Policing, that I feel Labour, has the chance make some serious inrodes.
2021 gives us a free hit – to increase our vote, run a campaign that considers what a decent, compassionate alternative for Wightwick can look like. And it’s compassion I would bring for you, in helping to stamp out Crime (particularly attempted theft), ensuring cleaner transport, making more spaces accessible, keeping key places including the Library funded and ensuring a greater influence through co-operation.
And knowing that I am an Autistic 23 year old – whose been penniless through much of life, I say to all who struggle in any way: YOU ARE NOT ALONE and knowing the decade of savage Conservative cuts: it’s time that someone IS ON YOUR SIDE.
Being in Labour since 2015, has given me energy to not just to campaign on the kind of future this city deserves and help win elections, but ensures a different future is possible; that enables ambitions to be fulfilled and that more tolerant, compassionate and progressive politics, can become the norm.
Knowing that Wolverhampton has £4 Billion+ investment across this city, demonstrates we have a positive story and through supporting one of which I will defend from head to toe. And alongside Wolverhampton's marvellous record, West Midlands Combined Authority Mayoral Candidate Liam Byrne and West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Candidate Simon Foster - both have plans to supplement such achievements and ensure regionally, Labour can put in practice a bold, compassionate and decent agenda for change.
Vote Labour on May 6th and lets together - build A New Future: A NEW WIGHTWICK!
