WOLVERHAMPTON, WEST MIDLANDS: 07:00GMT - TUESDAY JANUARY 18TH 2022

"I am abolutely delighted and very chuffed, that within the final recommendations, for the re-drawn Electoral Boundaries for the City of Wolverhampton which have been released today by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England, that 3 of my submitted proposals for changed Ward names have been included!

As an individual resident of the city and as someone who greatly feels, that communities need to be better reflected on the ballot paper, I made a formal submission to the review on Monday September 6th 2021 with 17 suggestions for names that I feel would make many more neighbourhoods be recongised electorally.

I am therefore thrilled and somewhat humbled, to see the following name changes be made in the report as above linked - all I note being in the Wolverhampton South East constituency, held by the superb Pat McFadden:

1) BILSTON EAST TO BECOME BILSTON SOUTH (My full submission was Bilston South, Ladymoor and Loxdale)

2) ETTINGSHALL TO BECOME ETTINGSHALL NORTH

3) SPRING VALE TO BECOME ETTINGSHALL SOUTH AND SPRING VALE

I very much feel that these changes - which will come into affect at Thursday May 4th 2023's City of Wolverhampton Council Elections and will elect all 60 Council seats; are the start in terms of giving Wulfrunians a new kind of voice and ensuring that the richness, vibrency and locality of the city is reflected on as big as scale as possible.

Finally and in the words of the 44th President of the United States in Barack Hussain Obama: "Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time." And seeing I've through engagement and involvement in such a process and thought how I can make the place I live better for the next generation: Mr President; I am fully with you!"

Heath Town – Heath Town and New Cross

Merry Hill – No Change

Oxley – Oxley and Pendeford

Park – Newbridge, Merridale and Park

Penn – No Change

Spring Vale – Ettingshall South and Spring Vale

St Peter's – The City, Dunstall and Molineux

Tettenhall Regis – Claregate, Tettenhall Village and Stockwell End

Tettenhall Wightwick – Compton, Castlecroft and Tettenhall Wightwick
