Wolverhampton Wanderers: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Here's a rant, knowing of the status of my Football Club, whose future is in deep danger...
It’s beyond clear that Wolverhampton Wanderers are a club whose futures lingers in serious jeopardy, thanks to tactical stupidity, owners’ interest who have totally wavered since 2020 and some entitled fans who are not fearless enough to say the words “Enough is Enough.”
Enough is enough, knowing of the way that Gary O’Neil’s side have conceded 21 goals in just 7 games and seen us pick up just 1 point in this opening period, which leaves us rock bottom of the table, caused in significant part for not replacing Max Kilman upon his departure.
Enough is enough, with how tight the purchase strings have become due to owners who clearly see us a pawn in there ever-growing debt-ridden organisation, in a country whose restrictions are led by its Government.
Enough is enough, when having to pay an outrageous £835 for 19 Premier League games this season, caused by the solo decision of a Chairman whose sole aim is to milk supporters who are seeing a side whose underperforming hideously
Enough is enough, in knowing that Wolves Women have been left behind in terms of investment and has thus meant many missed opportunities to take what is a brilliant side to the next level and fighting to get into the Women’s Championship.
Enough is enough, seeing that it took the rightful shouting of ordinary fans, just to get several hundred thousands of pounds worth of paint be ordered, to help make Molineux a lot less rusty than it the place has become.
Enough is enough, when plans to redevelop Molineux and make it fit for the 21st century have become dusty on a shelf again, and again and again.
And enough REALLY is enough, when the Wolves 1877 Supporter’s Trust, whose actual membership sits at a pathetic and utterly poultry 1.5% approx. of Season Ticket Holders, deems themselves as the true and authentic voice of a fan base of many millions across the world and seeks to take all the credit for things done whilst other groups and stakeholders have been around the table.
All of this has meant our Premier League status being at serious risk, crumbling infrastructure in all regards and some self-entitled minority being in Board positions and not shouting for the action that is desperately needed.
This means urgent action to understand including the following:
- For Wolves to replace Gary O’Neil as Men’s Head Coach immediately with only 1 win in 19 League games and go all out to find a top-quality coach, no matter the financial cost in order to seek to preserve our top-flight status;
- The DCMS Secretary Lisa Nandy MP investigating the influence that the Chinese Government is having is on Fosun International in terms of its every limited investment, for which I will write to her on in due course;
- For Fosun to consider any offer for the change of Wolverhampton Wanderers ownership, if it would enable that fresh leadership and new investment;
- For Guo Guangchang immediately to dismiss Jeff Shi as Chairman of the club and for the club to appoint a Director of Football, who can give the relevant experience and expertise in the operations of a sports organisation;
- For the club to give an urgent indication on when they’ll properly invest in Wolves Women and outline such a plan, in order to give them every chance for a determined and gritty side to progress further up the pyramid;
- For Wolves, City of Wolverhampton Council, Fosun, University of Wolverhampton and other partners to convene a Molineux Quarter Transformation Corporation, in similar fashion to the planned Old Trafford redevelopment so progress can be made on giving our famous stadium the modernisation is crying out for;
- And for Wolves 1877 Supporters’ Trust to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting as soon as possible, which is widely publicised through all channels and gets the engagement as many fans as possible, to enable such matters to be discussed and to initiate a fresh vote on who leads the body, so that they can be far more fearless and restless in stating truthful views of supporters’ and thus work constructively with Wolves to allow that badly needed change to happen, instead of the near radio silence, warm words and wholly phrases as stated through its 3 years of history to date.
This a position which our club and ordinary hard-working fans, from a city and community whose contribution to our nation has been immense, SHOULD NEVER have got into.
I hope everyone who cares about such a historic institution is very blunt and utterly unbecoming, in stating Enough is Enough, so that this ever-increasing uncertainty, instability and incompetence is washed aside and that a new era can soon begin.
And I will play whatever role it so takes in this hugely important endeavour.
