WOLVERHAMPTON, WEST MIDLANDS - UK: 09:45AM, MONDAY JUNE 21ST 2021
On Friday June 11th 2021, I formally resigned my Membership of Wolverhampton Wanderers Fans Parliament and it's Steering Committee.
The letter below to members gives the reasons and I publish it for transparency. I will state no further comment and give my best personal wishes to outgoing Fans Parliament members.
I issue this letter, as my Tendering of Resignation as a Member of Wolverhampton Wanderers Fans Parliament and its Steering Committee, effective immediately.
I firstly wish you give thanks for the opportunity to sit on FP since 2019 and hope the rest of the transition in becoming the Trust – of which I will of course join as a member and look to influence, goes as well as possible.
However, I cannot and will not, play involvement within a kind of body, which does not be transparent to its members, does not be transparent to the fan base and enables the freest and most open thinking.
The fact that today; you decide to take aim in posting some very basic information; reaffirming the decision taking in January and posting a link to a publicly accessible website (in the FCA’s page for the Trust); of which the fans has every right to know and expect to know, is the clearest indication of this being the case.
Since the shambles of the Annual General Meeting at the turn of 2021, such incoherent leadership has come to pass – not least that in the full member meetings since; no minutes have been published, engagement across the fanbase has been incredibly limited (apart from the one meeting regarding the premise of the Trust) and have often throughout 2020/21; left folk like me and fellow members totally in the dark; as to opportunities of engagement.
And as a 23-year-old, who has always believed that reaching out can making things happen, both disappointed and full of anger.
It is fully understandable therefore Jeff does not like us (even if his comments on Ask Wolves were factually incorrect), that the fan base despises everything we do and that post the AGM, the club understandably turned it is focus away from us. I’ve regrettably today come to the same view.
If that doesn’t show responsibility must be taken from the top of the Committee; within a world where people need to be more careful than ever to show their true colours and when the football club, needs to be aware of what we think, then I sadly believe the Trust will be doomed to failure. It’s time a new and more kinder generation took the baton of the best representation, and I would urge all who are sensible (of which are many of you), to follow me in leaving this charade of a body.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are a club going places – it’s fully about time that those shouting about fans interests follow the club and with the current leadership; of both the soon to be dead Parliament and the legally formed Trust, I judge that certainly will not be the case.
I wish all of best personal wishes and if anyone thinks I will stay silent once the Trust is live and see only limited change occur – very much don’t assume that will be the case.
I copy this letter to Dave Wood (Wolves Supporter's Liason Officer) for information purposes.
ENDS.
